Thanks for "checking" us out! If you are a newcomer, I hope you find this site informative and inviting. This is our 11th Anniversary as a Booster Club in support of our favorite team, the Augusta Lynx and the 2008-2009 membership year has begun. It’s never too early to renew or join the Booster Club. The membership year for 2008-2009 started May 1st. Check out our
President’s Message:
Dear Members,
First, a big ALBC welcome to all new members especially if you will be receiving
“The Scratchin’ Post” for the first time.
At last, the 2008 – 2009 season is under way, even if it did not start too well but
what a great result against Gwinnett and in their own “barn”. According to my spies the
guys were awesome! I can remember being at a similar game in Greenville several years ago
when John Marks was their coach. The Lynx were leading 2 – 1 with 7 seconds to go when a
puck was deflected off of a Lynx skate past Judd Lambert for the equalizer and the Growl
went on to win it in overtime.
Last Sunday, I think that, for all those ALBC members who were there, the “Meet
and Greet” was a tremendous success. Hope y’awlllll got to speak with the guys – they seem
to be a very nice bunch of lads who are keen to give the owners, coaches and fans’ a winning
team. Those players who were returning all had very nice things to say about the hard
work and generosity of the ALBC. Some of the new guys had been with teams that did not
have a booster club like ours so they too were especially appreciative. Thank y’awlllll too for
your efforts in setting up, cooking, clearing up after etc and for the donations of marvelous
foods of all varieties – the appetites of the current Lynx may not be as large as those in previous
years but none of them could say that they went home hungry or thirsty!!!!! After my
“performance” on the PA I guess I am going to have to learn to speak Southern so that
y’awlllll can better understand what I am trying to say. What must it have been like for poor
Riku Helenius?
Obviously with only one home game so far the ALBC “Federal Reserve” has taken a
big hit with regard to expenses (Meet and Greet, supplies for a number of road trips etc) but
we will not be appealing to anyone for a bail out as yet - we are confident that once we get
back to the James Brown Arena the money will come flowing back into the ALBC coffers thus
redistributing the wealth! Your board has a number of ideas that we will be floating over the
course of the season and we will be looking to you for help. This will not be just a matter of
getting you to buy things or come and “Spin the Wheel” but also in trying to sell various
promotional items to family, friends, churches, and colleagues who do not necessarily have
anything to do with the Lynx.
That’s it for now – see you either on the 3rd for “Golf Day” or on the 7th vs. Charlotte.
